Creative Events Management students meet for Face-to-Face Event

Tue 1 Dec 2020

Falmouth Flexible Creative Events Management students gathered in Falmouth in July for a Face-to-Face event that included a series of activities to explore diverse aspects of the events industry.

Workshops included Game Theory for Events, in which students learned how to apply this mathematical theory to event management, and Choreography for Events, where they explored how to move people in given spaces from a dance perspective.

The event also involved an Agile on the Beach (AOTB) App Jam, where students created briefs for the MA Creative App Development students to design new apps for the AOTB conference.

In an interactive practical session, Falmouth Flexible students looked at event design from the perspective of digital game design. They played with the uses of sound, colour and the principles of gamification through creation of their own individual games.

CEM photoAs part of the event the group visited the Eden Project and heard from their Events Team about how they programme a diverse series of activities with multiple purposes in a unique location. They also attended a promenade show by Wildworks, the UK’s leading producer of landscape theatre, at the beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan.

At the closing session, the Creative Event Management group reflected on the event and discussed how the opportunities they participated in will help their practice as event professionals.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with one participant telling us it was an 'amazing event that greatly complimented the online learning experience and that especially gave it more meaning having experienced Falmouth in Cornwall.'

Falmouth Flexible students can tailor the MA course to their particular interests within event management, whilst learning about the essential skills necessary to grow a career in this field. Find out more about the MA in Creative Events Management.
