Photography student's project highlights diverse faces of the NHS

Tue 1 Dec 2020

'The Faces of the King' is a project by Falmouth Flexible BA(Hons) Photography (Top-Up) student Elias Tsigounis, who decided to document the nurses and other healthcare workers at King's College Hospital, London, where he had been working for several years.

Elias wanted to create a historical archive of the multicultural workforce of the NHS in the year 2020, during a time when staff are battling an unprecedented pandemic.

Speaking about his colleagues, Elias said, "I was fascinated by the diverse faces and the geographical places they represent in the hospital's environment. Furthermore, I was impressed by the solidarity and equality among staff despite all the cultural differences."

The aim of the project is for the person viewing the portraits to learn about the 'role, rank and place each face represents.'
