Falmouth's Photography students explore new creative possibilities

Written by Falmouth Flexible | Feb 18, 2022 8:46:17 AM

MA Photography students will gather online for the 2022 Photography Symposium, Falmouth Flexible's latest face-to-face event.

This year's Symposium, taking place in the first week of March, is on the theme of 'Word\Image/Play' and is an opportunity for online students to celebrate the creative possibilities to be found in explorations of photographic images and words.

MA Photography and BA Photo (Top-Up) students will participate in a series of workshops, gain the perspectives of others on their own work, and learn from contemporary practitioners who work with photographs and words.

Highlights include a lecture by Federica Chicocchetti. Federica is a writer, curator, lecturer and editor specialising in photography and literature, and founder of The Photocaptionist - an editorial and curatorial platform that explores the relationship between photography and fictions, images and words, operating both on and offline.

Another highlight comes from Sharon Young, who will deliver a practice-based workshop designed to utilise the potential of working across media through experimental exercises, bringing photography into conversation with words. Sharon is an artist and lecturer based in London. Her work has been exhibited worldwide and she been the recipient of awards such as Flash Forward Magenta Awards, Canada and The International Photography Awards, New York.

Students will also have the opportunity to get a portfolio review of their current practice and get suggestions for publishing their work.

It should be an informative and fun few days! For the latest updates from the face-to-face event, follow #FalmouthFlexEvents on Facebook and Twitter.
