A highly-creative and strategic role, as an advertising account planner, you'll be responsible for creating the communication strategies behind successful advertising campaigns. This will involve making sure you target the right audiences for your campaigns, as well as identifying the tone-of-voice and messages you want to convey throughout each campaign. As the creative mind behind your clients’ advertising campaigns, you’ll set the plans in motion for the creative development of advertising campaigns. Utilising market data, qualitative research and product knowledge to create formal briefs, you'll ensure creative teams develop the right campaigns to reach the right customers for your clients.

As an advertising account planner, you’ll use the knowledge and skills gained from your MA Advertising Strategy & Planning to:

• Liaise with clients to identify their needs and develop creative ideas to reach their target audiences

• Brief in creative teams, account managers and other stakeholders with campaign strategies and requirements

• Research and analyse a range of marketing data, including demographics, socio-economics and competitor analysis, to gain a deeper understanding of your client’s product and market and to inform your advertising campaigns

• Commission external stakeholders to conduct qualitative and quantitative market research for informing advertising campaigns, such as focus groups and questionnaires

• Determine the effectiveness of advertising campaigns by analysing sales data and customer feedback

Senior advertising account planners can expect to earn around £30,000 to £45,000 a year, with senior directors earning over £100,000 in some cases.

3. Marketing executive

As a marketing executive, you'll be involved in marketing campaigns to promote a client’s product, service or idea in a variety of ways, including:
