Barnaby is committed to the development of the illustrator’s personal and applied voice. His teaching practice often employ visual games and workshops designed to create playful methods through which to generate, analyse and develop new work.

Barnaby has gained a wealth of experience as a practicing illustrator over the past twenty years, working in the fields of publishing, editorial, applied products, small press and comics.

His research practice is primarily concerned with the relationship between pictures and words: how they intersect, combine, and separate. Focused largely within the fields of comics, picture books and small press; he is fascinated by the pictorial spaces where these relationships exist.
